A New Assignment!

On July 27, 2013 By Harry and Annie Bergshoeff

We are off to Zambia on another IRM assignment! (International Relief Management).  It is a totally different project – no food distribution this time but still food related, not disaster relief but development assistance, different country, different language and culture but on the same continent and with the same enthusiasm! You can check out the project tab for details.

We are looking forward to this whole new experience and would appreciate your prayers and support as we head into brand new territory!

July 30th is our departure date. We will spend the first few days in Nairobi for briefing before flying to Malawi.  From there we drive to our destination in Zambia.  For the duration of the assignment we will be living in Chipata, a small city on the eastern side of the country close to the border of Malawi.

While the nature of this project may make it difficult for us to provide weekly blogs as we did from Kenya, we will try our best to share some of the challenges and benefits of this project. As well, we will communicate some of our experiences, observations and learning curves as we spend time in Zambia.

We hope to return to Canada on September the 26th!

Homeward Bound!

On January 18, 2013 By Harry and Annie Bergshoeff

“All our bags are packed – we’re ready to go” —- the words from an old favourite hit by Peter, Paul and Mary. Today, Friday January 18th, we leave Kenya.

In previous blogs we have shared with you many of the stories of the beneficiaries we have met and interacted with. We will always remember their faces. Our concern for their well-being and our prayers for them are ongoing.

While the beneficiaries have touched us deeply, the people we have worked alongside have had an equally significant impact on our lives. It is these people we want to introduce to you today and to say thank you to for the way in which they have received us, supported us, laughed with us, and tolerated us!
